This is a book about family.
A book about sports.
A book about college life.
A book about determination.
And a book about how they all come together, the good and the bad. It’s the story of five members of a family: three student-athletes who had very different experiences with the NCAA and one who played sports but later decided that sports was not the right path, and the woman who represents the common thread among them.
It’s a book about real life, real choices, and real temptations. A book that pulls back the shiny finish that is often presented by the national media about college athletics, and takes a hard look at what lies underneath.

“I was a redshirt freshman my first season playing as tight end. SMU had two guys in front of me already, but one was graduating, so that made me feel like I was going to get a shot to play pretty soon. Here was the thing though, I was a big guy, but I was a skinny guy for my size, once I was living in the athletic dorm at SMU and eating three big meals a day, I started putting on a lot of weight, nearly all of my muscles were working out – hard. I got so big so quickly that the coaches moved me from tight end to nose guard. Now instead of blocking people and catching passes, I was going to be clogging up the middle and going after the quarterback. I took it all in stride, when you are agreeable with your coaches, you’re going to be rewarded with playing time”.
